So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.
1 Corinthians 3:7
I (Laurel) just planted our garden. Compared to most Maryland gardeners, I feel pretty behind. I also feel completely unskilled when it comes to gardening.
Do you remember that feeling when you just learned how to ride a bike for the first time and you’re wobbling like crazy, trying not to fall over? That’s kind of how I felt yesterday when I was trying to learn about how to transplant tomatoes, watermelon, and peppers from master gardeners. I even felt that way last night, in my own garden, sowing seeds.

I am sure that all the plants and seeds I just planted are going to die. (I haven’t had much luck in the past with growing things.) However, there’s a chance that all, or at least some, of those little, tiny seeds will produce a harvest. Why? Because I planted the seeds.
I could have left all those promising little seeds, that look absolutely beautiful on the seed packet cover, in the packet. Then, I wouldn’t have to risk failing. I wouldn’t have to worry about whether or not the seeds would grow. But there would be no harvest. Or even a chance of harvest.
So, I planted the seeds. And now, I gently care for the garden. And I wait.
To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.

Plenty of spiritual lessons here. Growing as I garden.
Keep planting seeds … it’s one of the only jobs we have! ❤
